i know of the center channel and i was wondering if you had one in the front and one in the back would the back even be heard has anyone ever done this?

Keep it simple. More speakers is rarely a good thing----unless your goal is just pure volume. If your goal is just pure volume--throw as many speakers as you can in as many places as you can, and give them plenty of power.
If you want it to actually sound good. Stick with either a really good 2 way set or a really good 3 way set up for the front.
