alright well ive mainly done SPL for a while and am getting kind of tired of not being able to play it cause of the freq its tned at and the strain on the sub all that good stuff like that. so ive decided to try the otheapect SQ. ive got something planned and was wanting some advice, critisism and, ideas alike. so this is what i was thinking
Sub amp--- Tru SH-1 Subs --- 4 ID maxx 10s speaks --- Dynaudio 342 and speak amps - Tru 4100. and for the Hu either the eclipse 8053 or the 8443.
i would run active setup on the speaks. but i have a couple questions... to much power to the subs? and hould i bi amp the speaks?
Thanks for all the help in advance.

awesome system here...acouple words of advice...
#1...TRU's have an unregulated power supply...so the worst thing you can go it not supply them with enough voltage...so make sure you get a second battery and do the big 3 as well as no less then 4g power wire and ground....
#2..dude that's allot of subs..in an SQ system you truly do no need that much...2 max 10's would be plenty IMO....
#3 if the long term goal is to truly go active then I'd choose different HU...you want something that will give you a ton of flexiblity with xover and eq and either one mentioned above will not be choice....
#4 if your long term goal again is to go fully active, then you need another pair of channels of amplification...each speaker needs it's own channel...now a great way to start is to Biamp the mid/tweeter on a channel and midbass on another....
#5 is install...I can't stress this enough...doesn't matter how much money and how nice of equipment you have, if not installed properly might as well buy audiobahn...

Second- Agree with tru on the subs. Two tens should fit the bill depending on what car this is going in..... which leads to....
Third- What car are you working with?

yeah i was thinking the same thing wiothe the subs, just wanted someone to backup what i was thinking.
the car is a Scion tC.
other than that i was thinking of taking the 4100 and bridging the channels on it so that one goes to the mids and tweets and the other would be the lower mids i guess and just do that on the front and the back. or would i just be better runnig a couple of the 2100?
thanks for all the help guys. Posts: 53 | From: Az | Registered: Feb 2004

I suggest running the mids&tweets off the front channels of the 4100 and the midwoof off the rear channels. If you are doing a fully active setup, each mid and tweet up front gets its own channel from the 4100 and add 2110 or 2200 to your midwoof. That is unless you plan on putting something for the rear. If that's the case, 4100 front ch. to upper mid&tweet. Rear ch. to rear speaks. And either Tru 2110 or 2200 for the midwoof. (didn't see a 2100) Unless you go fully active.
The main idea is that each driver up front gets it's own channel and the largest front driver playing either the lowest frequencies or the widest band of frequencies receives the most power.
Also, (as trusound mentioned) flexibility in your x-over points/slopes and eq is a necessity in an active setup. Part of the fun is building but When you get to understanding, tuning and tweaking, that's when things get really interesting.
