Install > Any Sub!

On the other hand, I've heard the W6V2's and think they sound better than the W7's. Both are great subs, but a bit pricey. IDQ's would be a great option for SQ. SI is supposed to have good subs, but I have no experience with them. Just remember that the install will be a bigger deciding factor in the SQ than what sub you get.

I would take a W6v2 over a W7 for SQ applications.

But I'm partial to Image Dynamics.

And you didn't think the W7s were expensive? They are much more than the Maxes. The W6v2s are along the same price line as the Maxes.

yes they are worth it...and they can get loud if you want them to

Also, image dynamics has a new sub out or its supposed to be coming out, i dont know, I've only seen pics...it looks almost exactly like the IDMAX but it has a double stack magnet instead of a triple stack

The new sub you saw pictures of was the v3 IDQ. The Max will still have more output potential.

If you want to stay mainstream and still have some output capability the w6 and IDmax are good choices. I've liked the peerless XLS as well.

The Digital Design 9100 is a great sub for SQ. You could also talk with Jassa or Steve at DD about the 500 and 1000 series subs.

Rainbow Profi paper cone 12's (1.25 cu/ft)
Rainbow Profi Vanadium 12" (1.0cu/ft)
Alumapro Alchemy MX (1.0 cu/ft)
Dynaudio MW190-requires a huge box more than 2.2cu/ft +

Curently building a baffle for 2 MW190's IB through my rear pass thru.

All pretty linear and sound amazing, just not a not huge output capabilities like others mentioned on this thread.

I'm partial to IDMAXs myself... but the Focal Utopia are pretty sweet, I've been a big fan of those in the aspects I've heard them in.. If you've got some big bucks to spend, the W6's are pretty sweet, but to be totally honest with you, I liked the W3v2s in a good box better. Also the RE XXX is supposed to be a pretty gnarly sounding woofer, although I myself have never heard one, one of the guys I work with says by principal it should be a pretty low playing woofer. I thought the Alpine type X sounded pretty damn good..
If I were to decide on one though, my personal favorite would have to be the DD9100... It was tight, low, and loud.. [Smile] What else could I really expect from a DD though [Razz] Most of these woofers I've heard have been on my JL500.1 or my friend's US Amps VLX25, and have all been in boxes that were built to specs.. So I guess your install and source would probably be more so the most important part of the whole shabang here.

in my experience the mmats sub was much cleaner in the same box, same power as the W3s. I always felt like the JLs reached their xmax potential too quickly
