I'm putting in a new system in a W302 Benz. I would really appreciate some feedback. I've gone to few shops to get some idea and price. I've done most of installs my self before but I am not familiar with this new car nor do I want to break anything (have done in the past) trims, panels, etc.

Couple of the installers said that they build the best inclosure for completely rattle free and the best sq.

Both have simular ideas building a enclosure that houses the drivers in a sealed box, firing into another box but no ports. I will be venting into the cab instead of into the trunk. One wants to cut the rear deck to make a huge vent almost the length of the rear deck. Vent would be about 30" long and about 6 to 7" wide.

The other would be the same concept but remove the stock sub 10" wafer hole to vent it through.

My questions would 10" wafer hole in the rear deck would be enough space to vent the sound to the cab?

Another is that would any of this type of enclosure set up effect sq of the subs?

My system set up:
Head unit RF/Denon 8250ti>
balance output to RF symmetry EPX2 with 28band eq card>
Amp 1 Sinfoni Amplitude 120.4
Amp 2 DLS A3 twin mono
Amp 3 (optional) Avionixx AXT (class T) 1200.2 for subs, if run the amp 1 for front only.
Spearkers Front and rear MbQuart Qsd or Dynaudio
final install after evaluation of both sets in car.
Subs 2 Adire Audio Brahma 10 dual 4ohm.
batt cap 2000
Knukncepts for wiring.

I welcome any suggestions

Thanks

just remove the factory 10. there is no need for a 30x7 slot for 2 sealed 10's.

Thanks Michael,

Damn!! Your stuff (projects)look nice. Wish you were closer.

Any members in audio competition out here in Sacramento, CA. area?

I've had systems in all my cars since high school been more of a hobby then anything but would be interested in getting more involved.

The enclosure firing into a separate enclosure sounds like a bandpass to me---not exactly what I would look to for SQ.

If your subs will work--I would free air them.

Yes, it sure does sound like it. They said it is sorta 7th order design. Maybe be able to listen to their previous intall before going ahead with it. Adire audio said the Brahma 10s will well in free air set up with minial power. Like 250w. They are rated @ 1600w per.

Thanks, Andy

The cutting of the rear deck to vent it there will most likely achieve greater volume, reflecting off the rear glass will probably achieve higher SPL. Its more work, and if I was going to do that I would free air the subs like Andy said and mount them in the deck.

If you don't want to mount the subs up there, I would just remove the factory 10 and vent through there. I probably wouldn't cut the deck up just for venting when you already have a sizable vent available.

i know someone who lives in Sac [Wink] Only thing is if your askin about SQ comps i havent seen one here or anywhere nearby in the 4 1/2 years ive been going to shows. Its all DbDrag and Usac. Actually i sorta take that back, about 3 years ago, IASCA used to go to Sears point (Infinion Raceway) in Vallejo which is about 1 hour away. They all the sudden stopped. I never did SQ comps but its really a "great incentive" to get into it when a big dog like IASCA decides NOT to come to Nor Cal anymore [Roll Eyes]

Oh ya to stay on topic....your lucky enough to have a 10" hole to vent into i would take full advantage of that. If you want to go bigger later then hack up the deck and make the larger hole. Thats JMO. [Smile]

Thanks for the replies. I've been tweaking on this intall for a bit. Now addition of US Amps 2000x for the subs and TRU Tech. Copper C7 to the mix. Order the wire from Knukonceptz today istall should be complete in couple of weeks. I guss there was term for this "blow through" box design. Thought about just staying with a seald but going ahead with the blow through design. Maybe attending some competitions this year. FYI the balance out from Denon/RF 8250 is a match for Zapco, and older Soundstream. Any body try running your IPODS through Orion DEQ 30? ahhhhhhhhh!!

will report back as soon as the enclosure is complete. The shop I chose says they can tune it to my desire..Flat response or some peak at lower frequencies.

Try this: IPOD into Deq30 analog input(RCA)..Deq30 converts analog into digital output. Digital output to back of your Denon/RF 8250 Aux. digital coax input. Or input b on your RF Symetry instead of the Deq.

What the hell happened to all the good companies that used to make good stuff like the Orion DEQ30 wich was never finished but still the best eq out there. Orion, PPI, Soundstream, Rockford Fosgate, Eclipse to the descend. Why does most of the new stuff out there sounds soo good on paper specs but sounds soo mediocre for real. Thanks to USA companies like Tru Technology, Lunar, Monolithic, Zapco, xstaic. Too bad for companies like Linear Power, what the hell happened? Marketing? Loved their stuff.

There is a great value in picking up the phone and calling a company and the "Dude" answers says yes I know everything about my product! What you need? Is that too old school? I don't have a clue yet, what to do when my Sinfoni, or DLS, amps have issues. Xtant was really great in that regard. Send them the amp and they will fix whatever is wrong with your amp for a flat and a very reasonable price.
