A few weeks ago I had an Alpine W200 HU and the 701 processor installed. One of my goals is to burn my music onto DVD's without compression. Someone here (sorry I forgot who) told me to import/burn .wav files. I've tried this and apparently the HU doesn't support .wav files. I took the disc to the dealer where I bought the gear and it wouldn't play in ANY of the high end HU's. It only plays in computers as far as I can see. I tried contacting Alpine tech, but they're closed 'till Mon. Am I doing something wrong when burning? Do I need to use a different format? Please help. Martin

Well, WAVs are half of the equation. You need to get it into a format that DVDs support naturally. All DVDs support AC3 and PCM. AC3 is compressed PCM doesn't have to be. Audio DVD creator is a software package that will do this but there may be other better solutions out there. Good Luck

I just got off the phone with the Alpine tech. He said that the W200 HU does support .wav files. He suggested that I try burning the disc at the slowest speed the software allows. I'll give that a try and let you guys know how I make out. Thanks for the replies. Martin

I burned a DVD at a rate of 6X and that didn't work either so I guess I'll pick up the Audio DVD Creator software you suggested SSSnake. Do you know how much it costs? Martin

Alpine techs. say that the HU DOESN'T support .wav files (nor do any DVD HU's). They say the only way to burn .wav files to a DVD would be to use special software. Their comment was that they're not sure if the software exists. SSSnake is helping me with this and once I have the problem solved I'll let you guys know what works in case I'm not the only one trying to do this. Martin

Alpine head units do not support .WAV files.

We have tested it on our various head units including the IVA-W200.

As mentioned above the only way to get truly uncompressed audio is
- to burn a CD using a CD authoring program
- to burn a DVD with an AC3 or PCM authoring program
- rip your CD's into Apple Lossless onto your iPod and use the Full Speed Connection

Hope this helps...

I'm so happy,
