My 1100.5 does 600 watts into 1 ohm for the sub channel, but I want to run a pair of 6 1/2" or an 8" woofer under my dash for some upfront, tight bass. This way my subs can be crossed at around 50Hz and tune the box low. I just bought two pairs of Premier components so I want to stay with the same brand, but I don't think Pioneer have any "midbass" woofers.
Any ideas? I want to keep the look clean so space is pretty tight.

Well nearly every car based speaker is meant to be played IB in the doors. And if you go cramming them in a small sealed box, they will loose all bottom end.

How about the Pioneer shallow mount sub? The eight inch model only requires .35cft of space sealed. If not then how about the 6W0 or midbass speakers from home audio?

Those are subs and will probably be not so great midbasses...
And home speakers generally need large vented boxes.

DD W6.5 or the W6.5LT. .25 cube and can be ported in that space. i personally haven't tried the ported with them yet. but i was more than impressed with them running IB. xover @ 50hz hp, they were begging for more than 150w. when i expected them to start rolling off, they just kept dropping lower and lower.
150w with no bottom xover, they couldn't take full power with low bass. but jazz, etc they could.

All depends on if you want a car or home based speaker, how much $$$ you have, and where you plan on putting them.

Well good midbass can be done with two 6 1/2" or a single 8" woofer right? I composed a few "requirement" for the drivers...
- Must have moisture-proof surround, like rubber - Can work in tiny places or IB - less mounting depth is better - fairly high Fs, around 40 or so - includes beauty ring for exposed installs - at least 100 watts RMS - Cost no more than $50~100 new, ~$50 used
I've been looking at some home audio DIY speakers too, it seems like they need big enclosures but I wonder if the same applies in a car environment? I mean we're not asking for lower than 50Hz bass from them and my pair of JBL N26 with their 6 1/2" woofer can supply bass down to 40Hz.

have you looked into the Kicker SS midbasses? you can get 8" or 6.75". at onlinecarstereo.com the 8" is $102 for a pair, and i think the 6.75" is like 85ish a pair. you should check those out, we did some in an evo glassed in the front doors, and they brought alot of sound forward in the car. just my 2 cents

The DLS iridium will work if you cross it very low, circa 100, higher than that I it starts to sound foggy IMO.

IMO the iridiums are waaay too costly for how they sound. I just can't see droping that kind of cash when things like those daytons sound just as good, if not better for a lot less.
That's going by the one time I've played with them and it took quite a bit of work to get them to sound decent.
