I recently heard an 80's dance song "Point of no return" by Nu Shooz on the radio and decided to find it on CD. Wow! I can't believe how dynamic it sounds. Not much bass, but some challenging midbass (exposed a flaw in my system), sparkling highs, and neat sound effects. The song was recorded ca. 1986.

Telarc is probably the best studio out there. As to recording quality: Motley Crue-Wild Side is probably the BEST sounding rock recording ever done. Everything in this recording is miked perfectly, mix down was done correctly, and so on. Fusion Jazz: my fave artist is Spies. They were one of the first groups to use surround encoding in they're recordings, and if you listen to they're stuff on a good theatre, you'll be amazed. Plus, it sounds good in a car! Umm.. Female vocals: Mariah Carey- Cant think of the name of that song, on her first album, third track. Very challenging for a system to reproduce correctly, careful on the volume! Ok, add your comments below...

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...

I like the sheffield labs "my disk" there are so many tracks that not only sound good but also test the dynamics of the system. My favorite track is the instrumental of "sitting on the dock of the bay". I also like the indy time trial recordings where the car comes up behind you. I also like Eric Clapton's unplugged CD. The four autosound 2000 disk are also real good. The ***** disk is ok, especially if you plan to compete, not a lot of fun to listen to though.

Hey Killa_Hz, Does that cd have "I Can't Wait"? I love that song, but all of the 80's mix cd's that have that song sound terrible. I like Toni Braxton's first cd (can't remember the name) for sound quality and Eagle's "Hell Freezes Over" cd, too. If any of you guy like country, the Dixie Chick's "Wide Open Spaces" has the most well rendered bass and vocals I have heard in country music.

What about Dave Mathews Band? Whenever I go to audition speakers or hear other peoples cars I always take my Under the Table and Dreaming cd. Tracks 2 and 7 are the bomb!

There is a great all digital recording called "Masters of Acoustic Guitar", can't remember the label (out in the truck). Very crisp with a huge variety of different guitar styles. Alpine's "Speed of Sound" Most Celine Dion can be challenging to reproduce properly but very rewarding. Thomas Dolby "Aliens Ate My Buick" Very dynamic tracks with some very tight bass and also some good extension and lots of cool computer and synth. effects. Dave Matthews Band Yello Man there are so many good ones, but I'd love to get my hands on some ***** judge's cds!
Oh, and a lot of newer country is quite well recorded! ------------------ inno73@hotmail.com
