Wow! I just heard a set of Raven R1s in a MTM config with Seas Excel midbasses, and WOW is all I can say. I have never heard a tweet that can even come close to comparing with the Ravens. I like my Vifa XT25s, and I have had some SS 9500s, and earlier today I heard a set of BG Neo 3s, but none of them were anything like the Ravens. For anyone looking for a tweeter that is just plain incredible, I wouldn't look anywhere else. I am now trying to devise a plan on how to install a pair of R1s in my vehicle. Anyone have any suggestions?

Keep looking elsewhere b/c the Ravens won't last in a car that is driven.

Shadowstar is trying to put a set in his truck.

I think they are a bad idea in a car b/c they are so fragile.

You could email Jesse and see how his project is coming.

I asked Danny Richie or GR Research about using Ravens in the car, and he also said it was a bad idea. He suggested the Neo 3s to me, said they were as close to a Raven as I would find. Danny has swapped out the Ravens in his kits for the Neo 3s and 8s. If you want, you could give him an email or a call- very nice and smart guy. The website for his company is www.gr-research.com

Hmmm I heard some Neo 3 PDRs today and they sure didn't sound like the Ravens. Not nearly as articulate, detailed, or as I would simply call it, perfect. I guess I will have to throw out the Raven idea, because I can barely afford to spend 400 dollars on them in the first place, and definately not more money to replace them. How would you compare the Neo 3 and Neo 3 PDR? I was sort of disapointed with the PDRs I heard. Thanks.

Heh.. Ravens, wow.

Ryb- mail me, I might be able to get you a good deal on a pair.

R2's are the ideal choice for a car in my opinion because they look to be much more vertically directional than the R1's, but the R1's are ten times more likely to fit in a car.

SS- you got mail!

spyderman- yes any trip is worth it to hear them. I honestly would drive 10 hours to hear a set like that, but, fortunately they are local. [Smile]

its great to hear that you liked the raven tweeter

the first and only time i heard that tweeter i was not really that impressed.

looks like it has great potential but just way too big for car use...plus they weigh a ton.

the ribbon tweeter i heard that was extremely impressive for car use was the sony silver ribbon tweeter in the xes range.

however unlike the raven tweerter the sony tweeter was only designed to work in the same area as a normal 1inch dome tweeter...approx 3khz and above.

just remember the ribbon tweeters are designed for free air use. Im not so sure what would happen to the frequency response if you placed a small box behind the ribbon.

Yeah I can tell they are definately a tweet some may not like. They didn't seem to be a very warm sounding tweeter- they just let you know they were there and did every thing right. They seemed to anounce to you their abilities, unlike some tweets which seem to sound good to me because of their transparency. Those tweets I would call somewhat neutral, but the Raven I call agressive. [Wink]
