Hi,
My Velodyne DF10sc has just arrived.
Looking to start the box fabrication but I am not sure about the volume of the enclosure.
The enclosure will be sealed.

The manual doesn't provide any T/S parameters but says that sealed enclosure shall have 1.0 cu ft as optimum or 2.0 cu ft as max volume.

How should the "optimum" be understood? Is it a sort of compromise between SQ and loudness (wouldn't like to use SPL termine here). Or is it the best accuracy?
How will the sound in 2.0 cu ft differ from the one in 1.0 cu ft?
Is it a net volume or gross volume?

Thaks for any input.

Merry Christmas to all!

Best regards,
Fred

Fred, I dont have the TS specs either, however, the smaller box will provide higher power handling and tighter punch, whereas the larger box will do great on the lower registers and not have quite the punch or power handling. I would think that since this is a servo sub with compensation, I try to find a couple 3 different sized boxes just for testing purposes. Start with 1.0 F3, play it for a week or so, then move up to 1.5, and then 2.0. Just see which one YOU like the best and go with it.

STILL waiting to hear a GOOD pair of HLCD's!!

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...

I would think "optimum" would be understood as the best sq when it come to Velodyne too. Those subs aren't going to get loud no matter what box you have them in thanks to the servo. Oh, and give us a review when you get it done

Generally Optimum means "best results", and from what I read, a minumum recomended of 1 cu.ft., so they really recommend 2 cu ft, but no less than 1cu ft.
