Te hole underneath the sensor is where the reading gets measured.
When you first get the sensor, it has a sponge over the hole.
Should that stay there or must it be taken off ?
I have seen them without at some competitions.

The sensor reads the same with and without that acoustical foam. There have been some competitors who have tried to "trick" the sensor by using lights to mess with the sensor. Wayne started shipping the newer sensors with this to keep from having cheating issues.

BTW, I dont know of anyone that did over a 130db with the light trick. [Wink]

That is so lame... ya know if you have to cheat like that then you shouldnt be competing... how could you be proud of yourself if you won like that? [Confused]

I hate it when people cheat !
I'd rather have a legal lower score than a cheated higher score.
