At my house, I get .000 at idle...and I generally hit a 151.4.

We took the meter and computer over to a buds house, and it read 126-130 at idle..even if it was kept outside of the car. It still read consistent for burps, but we couldnt test driveby SPL because the meter idle was so high.

Now I just hooked it all up at my house again, and its back to normal...what could be happening here?

Was it placed near any other electrical divices. IE: Battery charger or cb radio? Also, what was it sharing the outlet with? That may be electrical interference being picked up, that's all.

I believe the meter is setup for 120dB min. If you get over 120dB ambient noise it will show it. 120dB isn't very loud, it's 101dB in my quiet room. You can change your minimum to see this, such as 80dB.

The high idle from your termlab could be a ground loop caused from the power supply to the computer or breakout box.You might notice that the waveform when it is at this high idle is all over the place and moves across the frequency range and not a sine wave as such when you run a test tone in the vehicle. Hope this helps in finding the source of your problem

Sounds like it...but how to fix?

We don't test at his house that much, but I'm just curious as to how it could be fixed.
