just received our RTA and it comes with a clipable mic with headphoe jack. Can anybody tell me where and do i need this plug when conducting RTA reading. nothing mentioned in the manual that the RTA came with. it only mentioned about the usb mic.

The RTA can use audio from any source. You can use the USB mic, the CDROM, files from your computer, etc.
The small lapel mic was the mic we used before the USB mic was available. If you want to use the lapel mic, you simply plug it in to the mic input on your soundcard (or laptop). You must then select the soundcard mic as the source. (The USB mic must not be plugged in.) Also, some soundcards may not be compatible with the lapel mic.
