I recently acquired a TL from a friend, Its the newer style with the usb. And I was wondering if it needed to be calibrated, how often and how to do it? It seems to be in line with the other TL's in the area but I just wanted to see if this was necessary.

The only thing you may need to do is register your meter with WHE. When updates come out you will only be able to get them if that meter has been registered to you. I'm not sure if this only applies to systems with the show promoter packages or not, so you may want to find out.

How do I do that, its been a while since I installed it and I didn't have internet on the laptop at that time. Also it gets used on a few different laptops, does that matter for getting updates?

You want to check out the general store and look up termlab accessories, registering a termlab should be there.
