Symptom

When you attempt to run Term-LAB.NET or Term-PAK, you receive an error message that says...

Please insert the USB Key...

or

Security Error 6043...

Cause

If the key is inserted into the USB port on the computer, and the LED inside of the key is solid, and you receive this error message then the wrong driver may be installed for the USB Key.

Driver Check

1. Open the Windows Device Manager by pressing the Windows Start button and then right-clicking on "My Computer". Select "Manage" and then click on "Device Manager".
2. Scroll down to the section entitled, "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and then expand this section by clicking on the "+" checkbox.
3. Look for an entry named "USB Key". If this entry exists, the correct driver file is probably loaded and the problem is related to something else.
4. If you see an entry that contains the name "Feitian", then the wrong driver is being used for the USB Key. This can happen during installation IF you allow the Windows New Hardware Found Wizard to search the internet for device drivers. You should never use this feature when installing WHE products.

Solution

1. Right-click on the entry containing the name "Feitian" and then select "Properties".
2. Click on the "Driver" tab.
3. Press the "Update Driver" button. Windows will launch the "Hardware Update Wizard".
4. The first screen you see will ask you if you want to "connect to Windows Update to search for software". You must select, "No, not this time". Press "Next" to continue.
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and then press "Next".
6. Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." and then press "Next".
7. You will now see a list of compatible hardware. Select "USB KEY" and then press "Next".
8. You may receive a message stating that, "The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing...". Press "Continue Anyway".
9. After the driver has been installed, press "Finish".
