Why is it that the spectrum analyser score is so much higher? ie

The SPL readout represents the RMS value of more than 1 frequency. This results in measurements similar to the B&K 2231.

Ok, So is the peak in the spectrum analyser the actual spl peak, If so how can we make it take the peak, rather than the average, when a singular note is being played. Also what determines what frequencies are included when taking the RMS value, It is possible to set the minimum spl to just under the peak in order to get it to read just the highest note.

You are missing the point. It reads identicle to the BK 2231, which evidentially averages everything it reads which this one seems to do as well. I would assume that all termlabs do that. [Wink]

Also are you using pink noise that's filtered to get that? It just seems like that response is a bit parabolic...I dunno but I'd work on the system getting just that one tall spike to show up...

The responce is like that because the amplifier are being driven into clipping. we are playing a singular note. It is just the harmonics generated as a result of clipping the amp, ie.

Anyone come up with a good game plan to get just the one good single bar to show up?

1. Open the Display Options Window.
2. Change the dB/Div setting to 1.
3. Adjust the TOP setting to about 10 dB higher than your highes SPL. (You will need to experiment with this.)

This should do the trick.
