I was at the db drag comp in Omaha at Stereo West last weekend and noticed that they had a piece of what looked like foam over the hole on there meters looked like it came that way. There meter was also reading a couple dbs lower than mine. Am I missing something on the meters?

The foam is used to keep dust and debris out of the sensor housing. Term-LAB systems have been shipping this way for over a year now. When measuring systems over 160 dB, we recommend that you remove the foam IF the hole under the foam is small (approx 3/16" in diameter.) Newer sensors have 1/2" diameter holes and the foam should not be removed on these sensors.

Thanks I was just wondering I am also wondering if you have to send in the term labs for maint. every so often. My meter is always off a little. Same battery charge, I know that there are a lot of things that can affect a reading but 2 dbs every time?
