Term-LAB has the capability of driving up to 3 AudioControl "Bright Eyes" displays. (This feature is optional with Term-LAB USB systems.)

Use the following procedure to enable this feature.

  • Connect the Bright Eyes display to the first parallel port on your computer. (This is also known as the printer port. Most computers only have 1 parallel port.)
  • Run Term-LAB.
  • Click on the Hardware tab.
  • Click on the Display Devices tab.

     -
  • Select the desired Base I/O address for parallel port 1. Normally this is 378 Lpt1.
  • Enable parallel port 1 by selecting the desired display function from the Parallel Port 1 Function drop-down list. Currently, Term-LAB supports Timer (the count-down timer), Channel A SPL, Channel B SPL, Channel C SPL, and Channel D SPL.
  • Adjust the Refresh Speed slider to the LOWEST number that provides acceptable "flicker" on the display. The higher the number, the higher the CPU utilization.

If you have additonal displays, repeat this step for each display.

Keep in mind that most computers only have 1 parallel port. If you want to use more than 1 display, you will need to add additional parallel ports to your computer. If you are using a desktop computer, you can purchase a parallel port card for around $20.00. If you are using a laptop computer, you will need a device like that shown in the link below ...

If you do elect to add additional ports to your computer, it is very important that you configure the port to use one of the following Base I/O addresses (378, 278, 3BC, 400, 404, 408, 40C).
