To use the broadcasting feature, you will need to contact the dB Drag Racing Association and inform them of your intent to broadcast. The dBDRA will then assign a channel number for your event on the day that the event will take place.

On the day of your broadcast, you will need to do the following...

ESTABLISHING A CONNECTION WITH THE DBTV SERVER

  • Establish an Internet connection on the computer that is running Term-LAB. If your browser will work, Term-LAB will work unless there is some type of firewall preventing Term-LAB from communicating over the Internet. If you have a firewall, you should permit Term-LAB full access to the Internet in both directions.
  • Run Term-LAB.
  • Click on the Hardware Tab.
  • Click on the Network Tab.
  • Click the "Network Enable" checkbox. The connection status indicator should change from Off-Line to Connected.
  • Select your event from the Event Selection drop-down box. Use the password assigned by the dBDRA to log in.
  • Click on the "Enable Standings" checkbox. When this checkbox is selected, Term-LAB will automatically send the current standings (or bracket info) to the viewers every 5 minutes.

The Message to Clients text box is used to send temporary status messages to everyone that is watching your event. For example, you could say, "The event will begin at 10:00 AM." or "The event has been delayed due to rain." The maximum length of your message is 80 characters. This message will be sent every 30 seconds. When you run a round in dB Drag Racing, the message will be overwritten with other status information such as, "dB Drag Racing Qualifying Rounds", etc.

CONFIGURING THE VIDEO CAPTURE OPTIONS

If you have a USB camera, you will need to configure the Video Capture Options so that viewers can see your event.

  • Click on the Hardware tab.
  • Click on the Multimedia tab.
  • Select the desired Video Device from the drop-down list.
  • Press the Connect button.
  • Select the desired resolution. You should select 640x480 or smaller. Otherwise, viewers may have difficulty downloading the images in the time allowed.
  • Select "1 Camera" from the Network Client Enable drop-down list. If you forget to do this, then viewers will not be able to view your event. (This option has been removed in newer versions of the software.)

IMPORTANT! You should check your Internet Connection status frequently. If you look at the status bar at the bottom of the screen, you will see the Network status. Off-Line means you are not connected. Connected means that you have established a connection to the dBTV server but have not selected a channel to broadcast on. Broadcasting means that you are broadcasting data in real time. If you lose your Internet Connection, you MUST close Term-LAB, re-establish your Internet Connection, and re-login.
