When you install Term-LAB on a computer, you "pair" a specific Term-LAB system with that computer. If you use multiple Term-LAB systems on the same computer, you must use the following procedure when switching hardware.
Switching USB Systems
Disconnect the first USB Interface Box from the computer.
Attach the second USB Interface Box to the computer. Windows may launch the New Hardware Found Wizard. Please allow Windows to automatically install the appropriate drivers.
Run Instacal. Instacal will delete the profile for the first Term-LAB USB system and will add a profile for the second USB system.
Run Term-LAB.
Switching Term-LAB USB to Term-LAB.NET
Disconnect the Term-LAB USB Interface Box from the computer.
Attach the Term-LAB.NET Key to the computer. (Make sure you have already installed the key drivers as outlined in the Term-LAB.NET owner's manual.)
Attach the Term-LAB.NET hardware. (Plug the PCMCIA card into the laptop or insert the PCI card into the motherboard. If using a PCI card, you must turn off the computer prior to inserting the card. Please see your owner's manual.)
Run Instacal. Instacal will delete the profile for the Term-LAB USB system and create a new profile for the Term-LAB.NET system.
Run Term-LAB.
Switching from Term-LAB.NET to Term-LAB USB
Remove the Term-LAB.NET key.
Attach the Term-LAB USB Interface box to the computer.
Run Instacal. Instacal will remove the profile for the Term-LAB.NET system and will create a new profile for the Term-LAB USB system.
Run Term-LAB.
The Instacal utility is used to "tell" the computer what Term-LAB device will be attached to the computer. If you change hardware (switch Term-LAB USB Interface boxes, for example), then you MUST re-run Instacal. Otherwise, Term-LAB will NOT work.
Customers with multiple systems (Turn-Key Event Promoters, for example) must pay particular care that each Term-LAB system in their inventory remains with the computer on which it was originally installed.
If you do elect to switch hardware (or if it gets switched accidentally), then just re-run Instacal. Instacal will "remove" the reference to the old system and will install support for the newly attached hardware.
To run Instacal, please use the following procedure...
Press the Windows Start button.
Select All Programs.
Scroll down to the Term-LAB folder.
Select Instacal.
Remember, NEVER run the Calibration utility in Instacal. Also, if you change sensors, you must verify that the K-Factors for the current sensors are set properly.
