System Requirements: 266 Mhz or faster PC, Windows XP or Windows 2000, CD-ROM, USB Port. Term-LAB USB is not compatible with USB chipsets manufactured by ALI or SIS. Windows 2000 users must have Direct-X 9 or newer (free update from Microsoft.) Hyperthreading may need to be disabled on processors with this feature.
There you go. How fast is your laptop? As you can see it says windows xp and windows 2000. Windows XP and 2000 are NT based and windows 98 is a GUI that is DOS based. In other words get you a copy of XP or 2000. If you run windows XP on the computer stated above it will be SLOW. You need at least 256mb of memory to run xp properly. Your computer is 5 years old? Im guessing you have at least what 550-800mhz processor? My advice is install XP. Turn all the fancy graphics of it off(let me know if u need help) and DONT run anything on that computer you dont need. Hope this is helpful sorry its so long my posts always are. have fun

It doesn't take long at all. Just install the programs in the order that's in the instructions. On mine, I don't use it to get on the internet. Only termlab and a mapping program.
