UPDATE - Feature Discontinued

This feature was discontinued with the introduction of the USB Powered interface box. Only older Term-LAB systems (with the 2 RCA jacks on the front panel) support this method of operation.

==========

Term-LAB offers the user tremendous benefits over those found in a traditional SPL meter. But, there may be times when it is inconvenient to use a computer while testing.

Did you know that the Term-LAB USB system has the capability of replacing the microphone on an AudioControl SA-3055? Using the Term-LAB USB as the input device for your SA-3055 will provide much better consistency than a traditional microphone.

To use your Term-LAB USB with an AudioControl SA-3055, simply connect an RCA patch cable from the Line-Out jack on the Term-LAB Interface box to the Input 2 RCA jack on the AudioControl. Put the AC into HI SPL mode, set the AC range selector to 160 dB, and set the AC Cal knob to its center, detent position. That's all there is to it! The output of the Term-LAB USB was designed to provide the correct output voltage to drive the AC meter.

Although the AC meter will not provide the same resolution as the Term-LAB system, and there will be about a +/- 1 dB variance from AC to AC, the displayed results will still be much more consistent and linear as compared to those using a microphone. Also, you can run both the Term-LAB program and the AC at the same time. This will allow you to "tweak" the reading on the AC with the use of the Cal knob.

In additon to using Term-LAB with the AC, you can also use the output jacks to drive other types of measurement equipment... such as an AC Voltmeter, an Oscilloscope, etc. I will be discussing these applications in future threads.
