Anyone know the easiest way to test RCA voltage into my amp? Having an issue and I think this may be it.

ok now the level coming out at my amp should be what my head unit puts out correct. like say my preouts are 5 volts I should get 5 volts at the RCA tip too right? If so me thinks me RCA /himself

id expect the rca voltage to be a little lower at the amp. between .3-.6 difference because of resistance.

5 volts rated is probobly a 5 volts max clipping rca output...just depends

Good point, I never thought about that.

I always test RCA voltage during my testing, I had to swap out a alpine last year from a older model(cd stopped spinning) to a new one, both 4 volt decks, old one would do over 6 volts max, new one sub all the way up, bass all the way up volume all the way up and it would bearly do 2 volts. needless to say no more alpine.alpine was almost 400 bucks, bought a 139 dollar jvc arsenal and got more pre out voltage than the alpine.

i figured it out guys wasnt the RCAs or inputs it was the alternator. I think the regulator was shot. Once the volume was turned up enough to cause a draw from the batts it would recharge to 16 volts or so and shut off the amp.
