I got in a small accident a few days and now one of my 6.5" mids is making a popping noise. when i took the door pannel off i noticed it now has a small hole in the surround. is this what is causing the popping?

i took the mid out of the door and pushed up/down on the speaker and there was no grinding at all.

it's possible. pull the speaker and apply a light coat of clear silicon on the underside of the surround and you're golden.

well 1st, how bad is minor?? you could have a pinched wire somewhere now. Check the amps too.

A damaged surround will not cause this poping problem. Sounds like its the amp to me.

ya the hole isn't the problem. i fixed the hole but the noise is still there. i'm fairly sure the speaker is done for. i switched the speaker to the channle that was powering my other speaker which was working correctly and the noise was still there. looks like i'm getting a new set of mids.

Or get one of your home stereo speakers and hook it up to see if the noise is still there.
