Hi all! I am brand new to this message board so I hope you don't mind a newbie question. I have a nice stereo, not too expensive, not nearly like your guys stereos, but good nonetheless. I have Sony CDX-680, the comparable CD-Changer, 1 JBL Amp for the 2 JBL 6"'s and 2 Kenwood 6x9's, and 1 MTX amp for the 2 12" JBL Subs. Lately I have been noticing that on a low volume there is a lot of noise. Sometimes I can hear the sound of the cd-rom reader through the speakers, so-to-speak. What could be the problem? Inproper ground? Any help is appreciated!

Sounds like you have a ground loosening up or getting rusty/dirty.
It is a good idea to, every month, check all connections like grounds and the battery connection for cleanliness and tightness and to top up your battery if low.

i'd say check the grounds first. Then make sure your rca's or speaker wires aren't running real close to any power wires. it would also help to know if you hear the noise when the engine is off.

It is possible you are hearing noise inherent to many "digital" knobs and buttons.
Sometimes you can remove em, sometimes not.
Do you hear the noise only when changing volume or tracks on the CD? Try playing a zero bit (meaning no music at all, just a black track) and see if the noise is there without changing the controls. (These tracks are available on test CD's, borrow or rent one from a local shop)
