Hello! My Bose speakers in my car ('87 Riviera T-Type) are rattling. I am assuming the surrounds are gone. I have modified the system somewhat, the original Bose head unit died, and finding replacements for these cars is a nightmare, as these cars have the touch-screen CRT in the dash that controls the radio. I found a non-Bose replacement, so I had to bypass the individual Bose amps in each speaker, and it sounds pretty darn good, except for the rattling at high volumes. Sounds like only one has gone bad. The question I have is, how should I fix it? Should I replace the Bose speakers, using non-Bose speakers in the Bose enclosures? (Seems that may be a challenge, the Bose uses a triangular 3-screw bolt pattern) Replace them with non-Bose speakers w/o the Bose enclosures? (Car has regular mounting tabs, car came w/non-Bose system as well)Replace them with Bose speakers? ($$$) Or lastly, get the originals re-coned?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, and direct email responses appreciated as well. (ihadav8@yahoo.com)
Thanks!
