Will distortion make you drop a db or two? I change my wires to bigger wire and i think i cross a wire or something on my headunits to the door speaker 3 week ago and i lost 2 db and 3 db on the same meter. i did not change the subs wire. My speaker distort on volume 30 and my cd player go two 62. i can not tell any different in the sub when it on 30 or 62 cuwurdrt@aol.comPosts: 1 | From: spring lake | Registered: Jul 2003

yeh, distortion will prolly cause a drop in the volume. the reason why your subs are distorting at half volume might be because you do not have the gain on your amp properly set. to set it, begin by turning the gain all the way down. turn the volume on the head unit up to 90% of max volume (which will be 56 on your head unit) then turn the gain up until it begins to distort a little. then turn the head unit back down and turn the gain up on the amp a slight bit. this will allow you to get higher volumes with less distortion. also, if your head unit has the 'loud' option turned on, it will turn it off at high levels.
as to why you lost a few dbs on the same mic, it might be becuase your battery was low the 2nd time you burped.
