I've never personally heard ID anything, I've just heard that their stuff sounds great. I have heard some Infinity stuff, and I've loved all of it. I had a Perfecct 12.1 sub in my old car, and I loved the deep bass that it put out, had really good, tight SQ too (only 300W rms though). My buddy has the Perfect 6.1 in his car, and although I'd attenuate the tweeter a little, the components sound great. I'm just curious as to how these two systems would rate against each other in the SQ and SPL fields (since I dont have any direct experience with ID stuff)...

Both the 1 IDMAX or the 2 Perfects would have an MTX 81000 on them, the IDMAX would be at 4 ohms and the Perfects would be at 2 ohms with the gains WAYYY down
*ID 6.5" Chameleons (~100W rms each, 4 ohms) and 1 12" IDMAX (~900w rms, 4 ohms)
*Perfect 6.1" comps (~100W rms each, 4 ohms) and 2 12" Perfect 12.1 (~800W rms each, 2 ohms)

I know that I like the really deep bass that the Perfect subs put out, and I'm just wondering how the IDMAX compares to that, and if 1 IDMAX could keep up with 2 Perfect 12.1s (I'm actually wondering the other way around, can 2 12.1s out-do a MAX)? What kind of SPL number would I be looking at with both setups? Also how do the two 12.1s and the 1 MAX stack up SQ wise? Thanks for any help, just trying to get everything straight before I buy.

I can't answer your question about what one would sound louder or have better sq but i can tell you i had two perfects with a mtx 81000d if you watch the gains and the volume they won't blow my took the power fine never had any problems with them. Just thought i'd tell you that because i'm sure you will get some people that will tell you that you will blow them just telling you it can be done if you just be careful.

maybe its just me, but why would you get a 81000D SPECIFICALLY to run it at 4ohms?? get the D4max and run it at 2

Well, I did a 150.0 dB with two Perfects and a Lanzar 1200D in a large vented box in my VW GTI. When I had them sealed in 1.25 cubes per driver I did a 145.4 dB I think it was.

I don´t think the power will be a problem for the perfects, at least not if you´re running them sealed.

And I second that it would be a waste to run that 81000D at 4 ohms...

The IDMAX's rms limit is 1000W, and I'd feel uncomfortable putting a 81000 on one at 2 ohms, becaus I've seen numbers as high as 1600-17000 watts out of them. I'd rather just run it at 4 ohms and get the MAX a solid 800-900W and be happy with that. Sounds like you guys experience with the Perfects is pretty good, so do you think that 2 sealed Perfects could outhit 1 IDMAX? And would the 2 12.1s sound better?

The max can handle well over 1000 watts. Run it at 2 ohms. Then maybe you can turn the gain down if its getting too much power, and actually have SOME cleanliness there.

I'm just gonna say you'd be suprised how loud some of the high excursion subs like the IDMAX can get, especially ported. My 9012 was louder to the ear than a local shop's vehicle with two L7 15s sealed with a DX700 on each one, and they blew one of the subs too. Oh, and run the IDMAX on it at two ohms and just keep the gains down. You'll just have a good amount of headroom that way, something that never hurts

Run the Max at 2ohm on the amp! I have my Max on a Crossfire 1000D its not even sweating, and it is louder/deeper than my 2 12" Xtants.

I doubt i'll get 1600-1700 watts out of that MTX anyways. More like 12-1400...

Jazzy, are you running your amp at 1 ohm on the idmax? Just wondering becuase I am looking for amps for mine. Also, that amp can be strapped right? oooooops...this thread is ancient.
