I've been looking for a DD 9512 for my truck to run off my Cadience A7HC, but their pretty hard to find. I may have found a 12" Shocker Extreme, which I hear is close to the DD, but I can't find any info on them anywhere. Can someone tell me if one Shocker 12" would work in my truck for a daily driver, have good SQ, put my JL 12W3 to shame, and run off my 1000W amp? Another thing, I only have room for a 2.9^3 ft. box before sub & port displacement. Which Shocker should I look into if any? Any other subs I should look at?

a shocker sub will work ok in your application. the 12's are meant to be put in 2.7 to 3.2 cube boxes, before discplacement. most people prefer the larger box, around 3.2 cubes.. but if you do it right it should sound ok...

Yep alaska... they arrived last wednesday and they were ordered approx 3-4 weeks prior. Seems alot longer when your waiting for them though DD subs are built for sq. They just happen to be incredible at spl, and have outstanding customer service. Shockers are built for spl, and have "questionable" customer/dealer service.

i have a 15" quad shocker xtreme, the SQ is very good considering that the sub is more for SPL. i can listen to many different types of music with it, and it still sounds prettty good.

DD's are built for SQ eh? I don't think so...companies who use overhung coils that are capable of handling huge power and have very large sensitivities are not trying to get SQ...they are SPL subs just like Shockers are...if you want an SQ sub why not get something like an IDQ or a JL w6 or even a w3...something tells me that they would sound way better then either of those other subs altough probobly not as loud

well i am not bashing DD is any way. you cannot go wrong with thier subs. but look at the source of that info.. of course they will say that. look at what mover says about his subs and sealed boxes on his web page.. its advertising.
once again you cannot go wrong with DD, they are awesome subs, but its probably best to leave the tests and opinions to be done by an unbiased outside party...
