Ok, I'm redoing my sub system and I want something that sounds good and gets loud as hell also. I'll probably have about 4000 to feed to it from a pair of D2s. What does the 9917 sound like? Is it sloppy sounding, or does it have a good transient response? What size enclosure for daily driving reasonable sound quality? Will 5-6 cubes work ok? That seems to look good on a program. Tuned to either 30 or 35 Hz.

I'm going after the same thing you are. This is what I've gathered

6to8cu. box with 10sq. inches of port per cube. This box would be a little towards SQ oriented.

The sub is very fast, awesome response, keeps up with any kick drums. No sloppy rollover sound

Well, for listening I will have the D2s at probably a low gain, to take it easy on them, so hopefully it won't sound that bad. The thing is, I don't think I have the room for a 9917. I only have 16 inches of heigh to work with, and I want to mount it verticaly. So I'm probably either gonna do a pair of 9015s or a single 9515, which will fit.

The Beast sounds very good, in the right box. 8-10 sq inchs per cube in a 8 cubic ft box tuned to 35hz will do the trick. Why would it soud sloppy just because of the D2's? You can not hear the differance of a class A and class D, The diff in the THD is so small you can not hear it. Where it becomes important is when you look at the power that is being sent the speakers know the differance in the THD, but your ears will not.

email Seeer135@aol.com about the 9917

Believe me or not, he's gonna have one in his dash. It's not for "spl only" either......

Iboomalot might be able to help you a bit with some 9917 information too.

My 9512 in a 2.5 cu.ft. ported box, with 20 sq.in. of port tuned to 35Hz sounds almost as good as an IDQ (no I'm not kidding). At least as good as an Audiomobile EVO (owned that too). I am running one D2 to the 9512 and with 4V preouts from the Premier P730 the gain on the D2 is literally at 0! That's pry why it sounds so good with a D2. Any gain above 0 and it starts to distort from the trunk a little. Anyway the SQ is excellent.

i don't know about anyone else but i can hear the difference between a dirty amp and a clean one. don't even try to claim a can't hear the difference between a class d and a class a. i could easily hear the difference between a d2 and my xtant x1001 and they are both d classes. running them both at 2 ohms.

For a while any possibility of a 9917 is gone, I just ordered a 9515d today from DD. I don't have the space or money for a 9917, although it would be sweet.
