I am designing a box for a DD9515d, the required cutout diameter on DD's website is 14". My box can be a maximum of 15" tall. My question is, if I make the cutout diameter 13.5" instead of 14", will the sub still fit okay, or will the sides of the sub hit the side of the cutout? The DD9015 has the same cutout diameter (14") as well. Thanks.

You could probably get away with 1/16", but not a 1/2". The holes I cut in my boxes are exactly 14" and the sub BARELY slides once placed in the hole. The basket will definitely not let you compress it 1/2"!

I doubt it would fit in a 1/2 less than needed. Just cut it out to the specs.

See..this is the problem. My box can only be a MAXIMUM of 15.5 inches tall...using .75" MDF. That gives me a 14" cutout...with .75" at the very top and bottom edge of the cutout. If the woofer doesn't fit into 14", there's no way to make the hole larger, as the top and bottom of the box is in the way. What do you guys think?

Redo your box and make the front of your box with a 1" MDF 15 1/2" tall. Now you i'll have the place to put your sub.

The front is 15.5" tall...what does it matter if I use .75" or 1" MDF? .75" Is plenty, I would have to have 1" MDF specially ordered and shipped to my house cuz the local lumber yards don't stock it or sell it.
