Ok I know Im bringing this thread back from the dead but I just finished reading ALL 27 pages and now have a few questions. Can someone tell me the dimensions for an abc box for a Orion Hcca 10. Secondly will this sub be ok in the abc box for extended periods of high volume? Or is it gonna blow the hell up? Ive only got an hcca 225 powering it. Thanks for any help

^ The ABC box places no unusual stress on the woofer. In fact, the spaced tuning would keep the excursion down over a wider range so you can pour on MORE POWER!!

Sorry - not familiar with an Orion 10..

This thread is outta control [Big Grin]

I've actually seen this post for a couple years now, but for some reason I never bothered to read it, until today and I read the entire thing in one sitting. [Eek!] All I can say is OMG, I'm in LOVE with the concept and I can't wait to build one. I now want to kick myself for not reading it earlier, first of all because I could have been enjoying the box this whole time. [Frown] and second because it seems like the experts (Dukk, Buzz, Mr. Flamboyant, etc.) don't really post on this thread much anymore. [Frown] [Frown]

I'll post my questions anyway. They are all ones that haven't been answered yet. My 1st question is:

Do any home, studio, or club speaker manufactures use this design?

sup. lets see if i can help.....

miza mar, using 1 sub or 4 subs, there can only be 2 chambers, and a total of 3 ports, all the same size. place all of the subs in the larger chamber, and be sure to account for their displacement and ofcourse the ports displacement.

XXX 18 would want about 8-10 cubic feet for this design.

no major companies use this design. it just gets stupid loud on low bass, with some decent upper bass response. not the best SQ box.
want SQ? just build a quality ported box (my favorite). those can get real loud aswell when done properly. thats why you see them in the recording studio, instead of ABC boxes [Wink]

i could be wrong, but maybe bose uses a similar design in one or more of their products.... hmmmm

latez

When talking about for example: three 5" diameter ports in an ABC, is it 3 ports holes on the 2 chambers, each? And 3 ports in between the chambers? I'm a little confused.

I must agree that I didn't completly read the full 27 page but that type of boxe is simply a dual chamber ported box.
The fisrt box = 2/3 of total chamber, the second = 1/3 then you need to add the good vent? right?
You know a fast web site w/ the ABC boxe resumed?
tanks a lot...
