I gonna buy 2 15" Aluminum Eclipse. I was wondering what was the best sealed box size for this woofer. I was also wondering how much power to give these puppies. It's for everyday driving so please don't recommend any amps that'll need an electrical upgrade.
I was gonna buy a bd1500 but a store here told me they weren't gonna get them til june and I didn't wanna wait that long. Would a bd1000 be ok till they came out with the bd1500. thanks in advance

If you have a limited amount of power, I would say to make the box pretty big- 2.5-3 cubic feet at a minimum. With a Bd1000 you ought to be getting plenty of power ANYWAY, I doubt you'd need a bd1500 too terribly assuming you make the box moderately large.

Make that box RIGID.

i had a 1.25 ft^3 box for my 8812, but i switched it for a .85 ft^3 box...sounded a helluva lot better...gave kick to kick drums, was louder, a little more realistic IMHO...then a got a 2nd one...same size box...and it got louder...hehe...i dunno...a lot of people suggest much larger boxes for Eclipse's...i like the smaller box a bit better...try a couple...see what suits your taste...

you will need AT LEAST 2 cubes per sub. Don't cut yourself short. Trust me you will be satisfied.

1.25-1.5 ft^3 gets my vote...but...like i said...you might wanna try both ways...some people prefer the larger enclosure size...i'd usually agree, but the Eclipses sounded nicer in the smaller enclosure IMO...different strokes for different folks...*shrugz*

SPL or SQ how low? 20hz or 40? For low tight "complete" bass go with a larger 2cu for it if you want loud do the 1cu... or go ported around 2.2cu with about a 45hz tuned port (what im running) but your running plenty of power so ported might not be that great unless you graba sub-sonic filter.

Are they SVC's or DVC's? A guy i used to work with had 2 8815.6's (SVC) and put them in 1.8 sealed each. He tried some other stuff but that sounded best. I had an 8815DVC. It sounded like **** in 1.8 but I never tried it in any smaller(1.25 or so) which is what is recommended for the DVC.

I have a 8815. it was in a 1.5ft box. Didn't sound good on the low end, now its in a 2.4 and it sounds sooo much better with 600 watts. I sold it to buy the DVC and run it off my JBL 1200.1.

If you listen to rap, r&b, bass music I would say 2.0-3.0ft box

Hard rock, metal, tech, I would say 1.25-2ft

Hi-Temp Mastic from McMaster Carr online, or i also hear that Ice Guard from Home Depot works well too and is extremely cheap...also...make sure all screws in the car are tight as can be and all moving joints in the car are well oiled...i just went through again today tightening screws and lithium lubing all moving parts...everything in my car now moves smoother, doesn't squeak, and it killed the rattle a bit...now i just need more matting

Do you have them running off the rf bd1000? Do the subs hit pretty low in that box? Because it didn't for me...

yea, off a bd1000. no they don't hit pretty low in that box. if i could sell the box and get most of my money back for it i'd put them in a 2.0-2.5 cu.ft. each. probably keep this box long enough to say i got money's worth out of it. the bass is very tight and clean. it sounds extemely good. got it metered did a 141.7 w/ a too short cd. gonna meter it again after i get a cap, a good bass cd that'll play 20-200hz, and dynamat or foam or whatever i decide to do w/ the trunk. seat folds down but i have an amp rack behind so i don't get any advantage off that. probably gonna mount the amps on the back of my seat before i meter it again.

I have my 8815's in about 1.7 ft^3 each running off a DEI 1100D. They play all the low lows I want. Here is an in progress pic of the box.
