Does anybody know of a good 15" sub that will work in about 3 cubes sealed, but will also have the bonus of working well in 3 cubes ported. I was thinking about designing a box that would allow me to plug the ports for sealed operation (for bass below the tuning frequency). But I want something that will sound good in a sealed, and really be loud in ported box of the same volume. Crappy sound would be ok for ported performance, if it was louder than sealed.
Any help/thoughts/suggestions you can offer would be great.

Jeff

Why don't you just make it sound good ported.Just make the port tuning frequency extremely high for competition and then make another port to fit inside of that one that is tuned extremely low. Just get ahold of a computer program like Bass Box and play around with different ports. Almost any good fifteen will work for this application.
Just remember that a port will dampen cone movement down to the port tuning frequency. So you can actually play a woofer lower in a ported enclosure if it is tuned properly. A rectangular port would probably be your best bet.
