What would be a good SQ port frequency for DD9512's?

The box is in the bed firing through an accordian boot cut through.

I mainly want SQ, with SPL a close second.

Do a large ported box tuned to 55hz, with around a 120-140 square inch port, and plug the port down to around 35-50 square inches for sq(daily driving). You can unplug the entire port to run tones, not sweeps, for spl. This type of enclosure gives you both sq for listening and spl when needed for competing.

Good Luck

Ditto.

30-35 hertz is good a good starting point- maybe lower, but not much higher.

I like the way a 35 tune sounds on DD's. That is just from experience though. The whole big port down to little port works well with them for retunes.

Anybody ever ported them lower than 35 HZ?

What was gained/lost by doing it?

(I think I know but would like to hear it in the words of an actual user of 9500's)

I saw a tune for them at 22Hz and to me it sounded sealed. No point to it at all. Not only that but the ports had to be so small there was noticeable whistle. Go 35 and you will be happy I think.

um, what size box are we talking about? 6ft^3 will give a much lower bandwidth than a 2ft^3 if both are tuned at the same freq.

O.K. guys,

Here is the planned box.

(4) DD9512's in 2.5 cubes (Net internal Vol.) each.

The ports will either be (2) 3" dia. round Aero ports per sub 12" long, (Different box programs say between 29 and 32 HZ.)

OR

(1) 2.5" x 8" x 13" long rectangular slot per sub. (Should give me 35 HZ, from DD website)

Or do you think I should go to a 3" x 9" slot (40 HZ) and block off sections until I'm happy with the sound?

Give me some opinions on this.

(Please don't tell me to do one large box, I'm into SQ first, and I want to someday run separate amps to each sub, and I want the extra bracing.)

Thanks.

OK I have it. I have done this before. You need 3 cubic feet per 12" after displacements. You will need 36 sq inches per sub tuned at 34 hz. I promise you will love the way it sounds.

Why 3 cubes and not 2.5 as reccommended on DD's website?

That is the exact box that I have/had my 9512 in- plays really low, tight,a nd still has plenty output for me.

I got this from DD's website- it is the low tune for 2 10s optimum.
