These are just a couple starter pictures of a small test-box of another theory, working backwards. We'll see if this 6th order is more efficient than the last ones, i guess. not nearly done.
Probably be two 08s12L7's on about 4kW in Street. This one will progress with a few interesting features.

you should have seen the things I built in florida. they were NO power miracles. I'm talking oddballs stuff. Whether it was a 150 on 500W or a 178+ in the port on 500W, I like to be different. now I have less space to work with.

hell yes. I don't see why people waste all this money on adding power and not experimenting and working with other enclosure types. I just did a 6th order for an eD EHQS 12" and you would have never known that P.O.S. sub was playing.

i'll post the differences between this and the real ported and 4th/6th designs before too long

Yes. The topboard that you see in the first two pics was actually the back board just set on top for effect. So there will be a top on the box, just a bigger piece of MDF. I will also be putting a polycarbonate viewing window flushed to the inside of the top, so that I can look in a view the cone control/excursion. The backboard will be the last to be mounted, and will be removable. That way I can get in and pull subs to adjust tuning on the aeroport side, as well as throw the NEW L7's in once I get those.

Yesterday I got more sanding done. resin/bondo on a few more panels. some glazing putty applied and sanded. All sides, inside and out will be resin'd. interior chamber is all rounded and no 90-deg angles. Backpanel will be more than one layer on most of it. Top may be as well, depending on height once in the car. Gotta stay low enough for street.
I would love to work on it after work tonight, but I can't. There's a Hot Import Nights thing here in columbus, and I have to go represent the shop. So, 9am to 1am is my shift today. If weather permits tomorrow I should get a decent amount of sanding done.
That front is 3/4" MDF kerf-cut, then fiberglass mat/resin/bondo covering it on both sides. The whole interior is made the same way.

D-bass for some reason when I see this box it doesn't surprise me at all that you are the builder of it. I could see you doing some crazy 12th order triple reflex t line subwoofer cannon designed to launch cones off of your woofers. That's a pretty sweet ass design and I bet it took alot of time to get that contour all smoothed out. I would love to see and hear this thing in person. Are you going to put this in your MX3? I'm sure to meet up with you sometime this year and you better have this box in the car so I can see it up close.

I've been messing with horns for a couple of years now...what the hell is a "collapsed horn?" There isn't enough air inside the car to properly load the throat of a bass horn.

I think another term for a collapsed horn would be a folded horn. I may also be wrong, but that's my assumption of what it is.

It's not a collapsed horn. It's not even a horn at all. I just couldn't think of a name for the thread, and I was drunk. So I said "It's not a collapsed horn", because technically, it's not. It's just a parallel bandpass with two different types of ports. I know bandpass designs usually aren't as good for street cars, but I have very minimal dimensions to work with, and I got curious.

I got woken up early yesterday by the sound of thunder. The box was out on the porch starting to get rained on. I brought it inside and hit it with the heat gun. I don't think any of the wood was damaged. Lucky i got it in as quick as i did.

Ok, I'll post a couple more pics of this in a little bit. just one of a few boxes i'm SLOWLY working on.
I did get a new deck today, Excelon KDC-X792. I wanted the 991, but would have had to wait for our owner to order it. I only had to pay $27.07 difference from my JVC that sucked balls for the past 8months.

lol. well skipping is still a problem. I'm going to have to get VERY creative to stop skipping in this vehicle. the deck basically mounts by two taps on the basket. and another 2-3 tabs that fold onto the pocket that fills the 2din opening. i'll figure something out over time. i'll do the toothbrush technique if i have to. but yes, i can change tracks, change discs, eject, and my deck knows when it has a cd in it. the functioning usb is nice too. one more big beer then i'll post pics.
