Wondering if anyone had any tricks to remove old cured CA from Kevlar cones besides scraping and sanding?

I have tried Acetone. It doesn't help a lot.Just softens the CA a bit.I don't know what will happen if you leave it overnight but it will probably evaporate..so you will have to add all day till it goes soft enough.
I have read about Nitro too and that's better btu never tried it.

Well i got it cleaned up real good, in not nearly as much time as i thought it would take. I used paint reducer to speed up cleaning the surround area worked very well. As for seperating the former from cone it wasnt bad once i could get some pliers on the begining of the string. Then just grip and rip, it was pretty fast cleaning up the excess left over glue.
Here is the awsome part this sub (9918) had 10 spiders!!!!

ive got attachments for my grinder that are layered sandpaper. takes off the glue but doesnt gouge the basket at all.
Would work really well for the kevlar cone too if you were extra careful or got a higher grit.

Acetone will work, just not fast! Best thing to do is get a container that is just the right size for where you want to soak and fill it up then take a larger container that will hold the whole assembly and put a lid over it...this will help reduce the evaporation! Let it set for 10-12 hours and come back, at this point the ca should wipe right off no problem!
As for grinding baskets I usually use a cutter knife and clean most of it off first cause I don't like the smell then I use a grinder to do the fine cleaning...sure you can use a grinder for the whole process but man, even with a respirator you still get a ton of toxic fumes in your lungs...not good for the long term! Take it from someone who is already feeling the effects of ca glue in their lungs...avoid as much contact with the fumes as possible!
