It shouldn't hurt, but keep in mind:

"Lastly, power handling isn't compromised by a factor of 2; it's usually decreased 10-25%. The reason is that rarely are you current-limited by the gauge of the wire, and voice coils are wound concentrically so you still have the entire thermal mass working for you. Just that now all the power is dissipated in a single voice coil (typically two of four layers) so you may end up with an inert, non-conducting thermal mass insulating one side of the voice coil. This does not halve power handling, but can reduce it somewhat" - Dan Wiggins

This was in response to the Adire paper on shorting one coil on a DVC sub(RDO - resistively damped operation) to change the Qts.

Bottom line is: It's fine, but power handling will suffer somewhat. (of course I have no idea what kind of power a Colossus does at .64ohm)

yes ive used one coil of a sub before, but only cuz the other one was burnt [Big Grin] it worked fine, just couldnt get the lower impedance i wanted, so it wasnt quite as loud. but in your case, it should work

the power handling of the sub is 3,000 rms and 5,000 max and with the colossus at .64ohms should be around 4,500. just a guess though. normally it should put out 3,200 at 2ohms.

Well, I'm sure you're smart enough not to kill it. Just dont show off too much and you'll be okay [Razz]
