Well today I desided to make a ABC box out of the scraps in my shop. Took great care to cut peoces all right and get the 1.6Ft^3 I needed. I then dry fited all the peices. It looks great. The box is 12"high, 22"wide and 13"deep. Great right. Nope. The front face is the 12"x22" Now the part the sucks is I whent to go cut the ports and the port need to be 17.25" long. Not going to work in a box that is only 13" deep. So I did see in anther post a guy using 3x10" ports as a generice number. Should I go for this or mabe make a box to work with the 17.25" port. Do you make the box long enought to put the ports in and fill up the space to bring it back down to 1.6Ft^3 or/and modify the shape like this...

Here is the shape I have now...

Hmmmmm... Seems you have yourself a little problem with the elusive ABC box... Can you make it taller and slim and punch the ports through the top... I know it ain't the best, but it seems to be your best option... I will see if I can shorten your ports some and will post it later tonight... Just to point somthing out to you, man spend a couple more minutes planning, you are getting SO close...

Ya I know I nornaly spend some time planing. This time I whent out into the garage and ther it was the front of the box. A piece of 3/4" MDF 13.5"x23.5". I did all the Vol. Calculation on that and away I whent using only the the bits and pieces oroung the shop. I'm going to do some number cunching to see what 4" port will do. I can use 45Deg. PVC pieces to get upt to 15.5" long. Standing up on end might be an option.

With a box at 1.6Ft^3 and two 3x10" ports I figure a tuning freq. of 54Hz. A 16" port will be close to 39Hz.

Use 3 pieces of 2.5" pipe and cut it 11" long each. Port noise isn't even too bad...

3"x10" tunes to more like 42Hz.

Well, I am getting 3"x8" for a tuning freq. of 40hz, and it looks Ok to me... These were manual calculations so they are not as good as the Dukk mans term-pro specs but should sound pretty good also... Your call man, what will you do... Hint: term pro is smarter than me with math...

Thanks for both of you. I'm looking for 2.5" PVC and if I do I will most likly use that. I already cut 3" holes but what I plan to so is cut 1" rings out of the 3" PVC and insert the 2.5"PVC into that. Also at same time I plan to see if I can get a nice flandge out of that. Usaly gust roung the wall of the PVC but here I will have two time the wall thickness. Will let you know how things turn out. johnwayne_401 what did you use to calculate that. I tried to recover my math skills too but using that Port length formula using all knowend but Fb.

Pretty drawing! I built one with the vent going through both chambers once and had a problem with the seal on the inner one but maybe you will be more successful.

Personally I would just make a new baffle than the rings but either will work ok.

looks like I will not do ether. Ican't for the love of god find any 2.5" PVC. The guy at Menards said they don't make it in that size. It gose from .5" to 1" to 1.2" to 2" then 3" 4" 6" 8".... No 1/2 after 2" I think he is full of it. Going to look at some of are other fine home stores befor work to night.

For 2.5" you have to look at PVC Sch.40 pipe for domestic cold water service (it's white) and not the typical black sewer stuff a 'home depot' thinks you want. You'll need to contact a plumbing wholesaler or an irrigation retailer (yellow pages...)

Ok I was looking at that big Sch.80 stuff, also white though. Might have to call a plumbing wholesaler Home Depot, Menarnds, Knox just dont deal with it.

I went to www.mobiledynamics.com and picked up their free box design software since they forgot to give me the "special" program when I graduated... Oh, well more reason to buy termpro...
