I like this one because it shows both sides at once. I wouldn't mind trying some Treo 8"s no one else really has too good a 8", the w7 is still under consideration... I'll look into these and the new Rl-i 8" when it's ready. This one has a cute little magnet, it better have a cute little price to go along with it LOL

The TREO woofer I have in the picture above is no longer made, I just happen to have some. The new SSI 8" we have been discussing is still not out, but getting close.
TREO SSI 8" 500 Watts R.M.S. $250.00 retail (estimated at this time)

Well, just a few moments ago I got the news. Hopefully shipping by Christmas.... I spoke too soon. Rest assured, they will be well worth the wait, no doubt.

wow, it better be sick for that price. I think the w7 8" isn't much more than that... We'll see what I end up getting I know the dub7 has some excursion to it's name as well as decent cone area so displacment is up there. Only problem is power handling but it may be nice to run low power for a change lol

it will be sick. lol, and like i said, ..... they might have good intentions, but things don't always materialize. yes my brothers, we are looking at december now, lol!
you might also look up the crystal comp 8. it is a very wicked sub also. pm me if you're interested in some.
i plan on running a head to head of the ssi 8, comp 8, and a DD 8. a W7 if i can get some one to part with it for the test. but that's a couple months away.

that would be a great test, throw in the Rl-i 8" and AQ (I know AQ is similar to DD, but alot of people have been asking about them as opponents)

well i got my DD 1008 in and i've had the crystal comp 8 for over a year. that guy get's down. 25mm one way linear, likes right about 400 watts or so. less, it's not near it's potential. put it in a ported or tl to unleash it's bottom end.
the ssi 8's as of today, still not available and won't commit to a lead time. hopefully by c.e.s.. but we'll see. price should have a retail of $250 on the ssi 8. might look spendy. but it is MADE IN USA, high powered, take a beating and hold up, and should hit hard and deep in a tiny sealed box.

i still have to finish breaking in the DD and get it into a ported. i don't think it likes the TL i have it in. so far, it has a loudness of it's own kind of sound. it's a fast sub, sounds really good with jazz, metal..... pretty musical. and the bass impact is strong. so far the crystal takes it on low end output. but also has a lot more excursion.
it is kind of funny how loud the DD gets without a lot of cone travel. but i have pushed it up to about 1 1/2" peak to peak. for a minute or so at a time. trying to get that spider broke in some.
it's too early in the game to do much judging. it won't be until after c.e.s. that i have a chance to build the ported box for them.

FINALLY! my ssi 8 arrived. so far, so good. two thumbs up. i put it in the TL, did some more "aperodic" tuning to it after replaying with it for the DD. one of these months, i'm finally going to build a few other boxes for testing in.
anyway, the ssi 8 is hitin' it all and getting up to a respectable moderate sound level for a single 8. as we know, box, power, and install play a major factor into the subs performance and output. aside from a "perfect" box for it, everything else is pretty well maximized for the listening.
performs for any type of music. it can wing along on a drawn out 40/ 45 hz note, then in the next split second belt out a good, fast impact. so far for the test, i have the DD, treo, crystal, and a dyn. a friend of mine has a lower level JL. which i already lent him the dd and crystal to play with. with both spanked the jl in all categories by his measures. i'm still hoping to borrow a W7 when i finally get time to run them all against each other.

i really need to get them in a more appropriate everday box to comment better on them. so far, they are similar in output and sound. i think the treo might be a little better in the sound department.
