Okay got my 4 XLC 15's in yesterday and today im building the box but dukk recommended 2 8in ports but I called everywhere and no one had 8in pvc. SO I had to get 6in. Can someone tell me if I can use 3 6in ports or 2 6in ports without port noise and if so how long do they need to be if tuned to 35hz. Thanks!

Well since now is the only time I can build this box for the next few weeks Im gonna go one what I got. 3 6in ports 7in long tuned at 40hz in a 12.5cuft box "them port lengths are right?" 4 XLC 15's if it matters. I will check back here before I cut the holes in the box. So please respond!

well 2 8in ports have 100.48 square inchs of port erea and three 6 inch have 84.78 sq. in. of port erea so as you can see you will be short, so no it not a good substitute. it would take 8 4 inch ports to equal 2 8in. ports or you can do a square port made out of wood. Such as 4 inchs high by 25.12 inchs long or any other configuration you can come up with to equal 100.48 sq. in. what ever you decide just use the same length as the 8in spec. you first recieved.

I forget what frequency we were tuning to but with 2 6" ports you can cut them 8" long and be right in the safe zone. Your 2 8" ones were supposed to be about 13" right???

You can't call Home Depot or Eagle. You need to look in the Yellow pages under Plumbing Wholesalers or under Irrigation Suppliers for pipe that size...
