i was thinking about getting some 15" RE HC's during the sale but i came in about a day late....now i gotta figure out what i wanna do since they arent making those anymore (i was set on them too). I have always liked ED subs (elemental designs) and i was thinking about going for just one 15". This will be my first real system and i wanna keep it rather simple and kinda cheap. I like the e15A. Does anyone have any experience with it? im not sure about the flat cone design though. Im going for sql, just basically a street setup but id like to go to at least 135 if thats possible. heres a pic of the box they want built for it...

 -

its ported to 28 hz i think they say on the site.
the amp they reccomend is the Avionixx AXT 800.2 amp. anyone have any ideas on this setup? lemme know. thanks.

That's one sub I'd definitely like to try out. [Smile] I'm sure you'd be quite impressed with that setup.
As far as their enclosure goes, it's good, but I'd probably go a little bigger; 2.75-3 cubes net, 40sq" tuned to 30hz.

If you don't mind buying off ebay(some people don't like to)

PG Tantrum 1200.1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3077470396&category=18797

Sounddomain.com also has them on sale.

Good for 1400wrms + @4ohms. That's what I'd recommend.

i would love to buy that, but you'll never believe this but i got kicked off of ebay today. dang idiots. i tried to sell some cds once and some were burned so they removed that listing. This time i just tried to sell my bought cds and they STILL removed my listing. Then they proceded to suspend me from ebay until i go through some process to get back in. they wouldnt tell me why i couldnt sell my bought cds either. im pretty mad. thanks for the info though. ill look at that amp somewhere else to see if i can get it.

I might sell my JBL 1200 before too long if you're still looking by the time I decide. I'm close enough to save on shipping costs and just deliver it if I decide to do that and you decide to buy it, but my future plans are kinda undetermined right now. If I decide to try to sell it, (or even if not...) I'll hit you up on AIM next time I'm on.

the current 15a is sold out, and they will not be making the same one anymore, i believe they are dropping the flat cone on the entire A and K series subs....the new versions should be out by late spring, early summer

as far as that enclosure goes...works perfect with the 15A....32" is definatly enough port area

As far as I know, it's a pretty mean sub that does good in both SQ and SPL. I've never worked with one but I was about 3-inches from buying an e8a a while back. I've got a video of an e15a doing some sweeps and it's pretty nuts. In my opinion though, i'd put more power on it than 800 watts. Personally I'd go for the 1,000-1,200 watt range.

Flat cone design = bad idea. Never had any luck with them at high power. With low power, they are fine, but as far as competition goes...I do not recommend it at all. You should look at something like the dB Drive PL15. www.dbdrive.net. PM if interested, it's what I plan to run this season and it's not expensive at all...unless you pay MSRP [Wink] .

yes the PL15 comes in dvc2 and dvc4 so u r good with that. the 800.2 put out around 1000rms which is bare min for this sub they like a whole lot more. understand this sub is NOT a normal daily driver sub eather, sq is not great. i am running mine in 4.5cfnet with 75ci of port and 2400rms pushing it without strain. for u i would recomend the Quantum audio QC15 it is a sister co to dbdrive and is 1000rms, this u could push better. the site is quantumaudio.net and specs r messed up just like the dbdrive subs the mag is 120oz for the 10",180 for the 12" and 220oz for the 15" of the dbdrive pl's.

if u want to jump up in power the PL can take u into the 150db range or with the power u have and a decent install mid to high 140s can be done with a QC...SPLaudio

thanks...think i might go with the PL15 with a viper d2500.1. get the 2 ohm and run it in series to get a 1 ohm load to that amp which will be about 2500 watts. Does all of that sound ok? im gonna run it through winisd soon and see what i get out of that. thanks for the info.

u can hit 150s with a good install. havent had mine metered yet but flexing my roof and can make my wipers jump while im doing 70mph. setting a cd on my passengers seat i can get it to jump about an inch off it easy. the sq isnt that good though but i am tuned pretty high. i have a customer with a pair of the 15s tuned to 33hz but has only 1200rms on tap til next month. it sounds good but he really cant move them much...SPLaudio

the PL likes small enclosers for daily aps like what u r wanting and u can start with 3cfnet. did u look at the quantum QC yet, it will slam with 1200rms, and the cost is alot less...SPLaudio
