One of my XMAX 10's isnt making any sound "well not like it should be" I took it out and everything looks good. Voice Coil looks fine, terminals are still hooked, surrounding still attached. Ive never did speaker repair so could someone tell me what I could look for and detailed "if possible" a way to fix it. I could send it back to PG and have it fixed but Im waiting for my Punch XLC 15's to come in so this subs are going to collect dust, therefore it has been named gueine pig!

First off how did you see the voice coil? Did you take apart the speaker(pop off the cone)? Alot of times where the tinsel leads go into the voice coil will heat up and separate. Happenes with kicker alot. I would just send it back to PG. My four XMAX 10's never had any problems. They were great subs.

I am going to assume the cone will move by hand, well if so then try the battery idea... Just be quick and nimble and no harm will come to your coil... Then check you tinsel leads by hooking a small 9v battery to one side of you sub and a test light to the other... If it lights then you have no problems, if it doesn't then send it away...

thanks, jw, I totally forgot to mention..."when you push down on the cone...if it makes a harsh scratching sound, and is hard to push down...send it back"
you could also sniff the underside of the sub. If it smells like sulfur (or something to that extent), you fried a coil.

To perform a test like that, you do not need a signal. Nor do you need an Amplifier, Mids, and highs, an Epicenter, crossovers, a box, etc...
all you need is a battery, the sub, and 2 leads (pronounced leeds)(someone could've took it for "leds")
Anyway, take one test lead and hook one end to the negative terminal of the battery. Take the other side and clip it to the negative side of the speaker.
Take one end of the other lead and hook it to the positive side of the speaker. Take the other side of that lead and strike it across the positive terminal of the battery.
When you strike the post, It completes the circuit sending current into the subwoofer. With hope (of a properly functioning speaker) the cone moves up. When you disconnect the circuit, the cone moves down.

The fried smell everyone refers to is actually called "Ozone". I dont know why, dont ask. It is the magic smoke that every piece of electronic equipment has stored up inside of it.
