my buddy has 8 cuft of room to work with this is all before the displacement of the sub,bracing,etc... is this enough room for a re xxx 18" will be ported

8cuft is fine for SPL, if its street bass i would aim for 6-7cuft tuned to 35-38Hz. Tune lower, but it might slow the sub down due to its huge energy in the sub bass region

you'll be fine. RE recommends a minimum of 5 cubes
