will it a hurt a sub to wire only one voice coil in a dual voice coil sub? i was arguin with this guy today and he insisted that it did no harm but i think i have heard it can
oh and one more thing, when wiring something like neons can i use the same ground location for more than one neon?

yes it will hurt the sub and should never be done

I ran one coil of my 15W3 with an MTX81000D for a few months with no problems at all, just shorted the other two terminals together to keep the parameters constant. There's a bit more information on it at www.adireaudio.com

WOW! They got a sweet site! I had to put that on my favorites so I can read it later! I didn't even get to the article of why it's ok to run a single coil. My impression is, it's like pulling a plug wire on a motor, you'll drag a piston in the cylinder, which won't take long to cause damage. If you got it, use it!
