ok, i am in the middle of an upgrade on subs, which is going to sound better and be louder??? what can i hit with either pair?? please give me your comments

I was in the SAME situation about a year ago.
I first went with the HX2. Didn't like it... went to W3... liked it... everyday after I got them they got LOUDER and sounded CLEANER.
I went with the HX2 for a little over 2 weeks. I didn't like where it was going.
W3 = Better SQ, somewhat greater SPL potential. HX2 = Brute power handling... possible of getting louder than W3... but... The W3 H.O. and Bandpasses will DESTROY the HX2.

it depends on the ammount of power you are giving them. my 2 12" hx2's handled alot of abuse sinse i had them and they sounded great, the w3 does have better sq though and get just as loud in the right box. go for the w3's.

The Hx2's can get pretty loud they do have a better cone than the w3's but the w3's beat them for sq any day of the week but not as strong of a woofer as far as power handling. If you're going to run more than about 1600 watts use the HX2's other wise go with the w3's.

Agreed. It depends on what you are going to use them for. The W3 does have better SQ, but if you want to put a lot of power and get the most SPL, build the right box and the HX2 will IMO pound harder and longer than the W3. The Hx2's are able to produce good SQ in the proper sealed box, but they really love a good ported box. All in all it depends on what you want out of a sub - if you want good SQ in a moderate to loud application, go with the W3. If you want something obnoxiously loud that will take anything you can throw at it (power or abuse), get the Hx2. I am very happy with my Hx2's, but I have liked the sound from my previous W3's as well.

just out of curiousity, what do you think either pair would hit running off a jbl 1200.1 amp? both being in a ported box around the size 2.5-2.75 each sub??? could the hx2's hit 150? how about the w3's??? this would be in a trunk too... so i know its gonna be hard to hit 150 in a trunk with out spending some money..... please give me your comments
