i have a 97 chev full sise ext. cab what i want to do is put a set of 8's in the floor i think i can fit it on the drivers side but the exhaust is in the way on the passenger side and i dont want to relocate it
any tips or tricks would be greatfull

Well, you are not presented with many options.. You could build it out, and raise the floor a couple inches, raise the floor in just that area, use Illusion audio (Magnet where dustcap should be, $$$ items!) drivers to attain very small mounting depth, or pick a different spot for your drivers.

Seems like it's pretty common to have sheetmetal missing behind the kickpanel. Cut out a bit more and you have the beginnings of your box at least if there's no major obstacles in the way. Usually there's nothing much in the way...maybe a ground or the light switch wire for the door. Worth a look.
