I got to listen to one tonight. A kinda freind of mine purchased one for about 600 or 700 dollars with a ported box. The box was tuned to 30 hz and was about 2.5 in volume, but it looked bigger. It was in the back of a ford taurus with a 750 watt amp on it.... I was not impressed. I'm thinking it was not enough power and am probably right even though i know little about them. The quality was good, and it seemed to hit nicely but it was just not as loud as i expected. I would be severely p-o'ed if i ever spent that much money for that little of results. Does anyone else have any stories or first sounds of them? I plan on getting to a shop sometime this week to take a look at them more closely just for boredom but seeing this single MONSTER sub did not impress me... Anyone? AC

From my experience they have extremly good SPL and SQ. The punchiness of even the softer bassdrum notes make you want to cry. I have heard a single one ported, but the real fun was when i heard three of them in a Focus wagon. Insane! Unfortunately I never heard what they were mic'ed at but it was insanely loud. Both times i heard them they were in sealed boxes, the single was getting 800watts the trio was getting something like 750 a piece

i was thinking more and more about it and here is what i came to.... Whatever his amp was he said it was 500 watts but putting out more like 750 but i really doubt, since he had that amp on prior subs that it was putting out that much at 1.3 ohms or whatever the sub is so it was prolly really underpowered.... you do have to remember though, subs need to be broken in. My W3s are about 5 months old and they are still getting louder and cleaner about every week. Plus, 500 even 750 wRMS is not enough for that sub. Same thing goes for the higher-end audiobahn subs.

It sounds to me like the enclosure was too big for the speaker. We recommend 1.75 cubic feet (net, before displacement) for the 12W7. 2- 3 inch ports at 14 inches long. This will tune the enclosure to 32 Hz.

Anyone who questions the w7's needs to listen to them on real power...
We threw a set of 2 12's sealed into a '95 Mustang hardtop with 1 Memphis 1500D PER sub. OMMFG!!! It sounded amazing, and where the rear glass met the roof of the vehicle, it buckled the roof about 2" down and broke the seal. The dash was hopping about 3" total up and down, and this wasn't even broken in.
It was enough that I'm even questioning just putting one 12 in my new vehicle...insane...
