first of all, I said attention to you because you seem to be one of the most knowledgeable people about isntalls in here. So, i'm doing an isntall for a frined in a late 80's (1986 to be exact) Mazda RX-7. Now I went to installdr.com and got the wiring codes. But they didin't list the colors for the wires coming out of the car. Maybe you can help???? Any and all help is muchly appreciated! Thanks, M@tthew

To be honest with ya, in an older car like that (no offense, my S10 is an 87, so I have room to talk), II would simply run new lines throughout the car. It is an easy car to deal with, no difficult panels or anything, so, go ahead and do new wiring. Besides, the wires are 16 years old...spend the few extra $ and do it right the first time.
As for power, simply go to the ignition harness in the coulmn or under the dash. Don't tuck wires in fuses, that is really tacky and will cause future problems.
Email Wayne regarding your password. He can probably take care of ya.

some words of advice, my friend has a 91 RX-7 and I put a radio in it and had to wire a relay to work the power ant. The voltage coming from the remote wire on the deck wasn't enough to activate it, so I just switched a relay with it and used 12v source to power the ant. I don't know if the one you're working on has a power ant. but I thought I would let you know.

Well thank you everyone for the help! I appreciate it. Anyways, just to let you know, I did the installation, using a power tester (couldn't think of a better word for it, ya know the little deal with a light?)and after all i found out that the previous owner had installed a metra kit, but no harness, i ran all new wires to everything and the owner was really very pleased with the outcome, now he wants amps and subs! Ha ha, I love return customers! Thanx, M@tthew
P.S. Actaully, the remote turn on wire does have enough power, the problem is, is that every company except for Mazda uses positive charge remote turn on, and Mazda uses a negative charge, that's why you have to use a relay!
