WTF? My gains are set where they always where, my head unit is on -1 for bass and not even turned as it usually was and now my Cadence A7, after like 40 seconds of playing cuts out and the light goes on.... All i did was take me box out and put it back in.... Could there be a wire problem IN the box....i have not checked in a while Thanks AC

yes, the problem could be inside the box. Also possibly in the sub itself. How often did your amp shut off in the past?

well, it never did it before.... No wait, it did, but only on certain songs, i know bubba sparx - if its bumpin made it cut out once.... Otherwise voltage affected it some times but not too often.... Thanks for further input AC

Try switching the sub for a smaller high impedance sub. If ya have one laying around, maybe some coils in series? See if it goes into protect. Keep us updated, what's your setup, subs, amps(hehe)? 2 12W3-D4s @ 1 ohm? Is the amp also running at 1 ohm?
I'm guessing it goes into protect even at low volumes. Or did it fry the first time?

it sounds stupid but could it have been because my ground was loose? I have a new wireing set up now and i think maybe it was loose cause when i hit it it started playing again..... BUT first, i was getting a screwdriver from teh garage and its dark, i came out and ran hard into a pole about 2.5 ft tall, it put a pretty good cut in my pants and bloody mark on my leg. Then i took my subs out and checked the wireing.... ALL good..... Then i found out about the ground and went to tighten it with my allen wrench, for some reason (crappy wrench) it did not turn so i was gonna use my pliers to turn the tightener on the amp.... Well dumb@ss me hit the ground and power at the same time causeing me to blow my fuse upfront (A7 does not have one on it) So i gotta get a new one of those...theres $8... My 12w3-D4s should be at 1 ohm...the way i have them wired.... My A7 should be able to handle this My wire is 1/0 guage, i really wish i could get the pics up on sounddomain but it ain't working... Thanks AC

Well, you said it was going into protect. So in that case, I'd say th ground wasn't loose. If the amp just lost power, than maybe. I'd still look at the wiring from the amp to the subs, and possibly the amp itself.

i'll look monday after i get my new fuse... How do i tell if my subs are crap or are the source of the problem? I guess it does not prove anything at all but when i disconect the speakers and turn the bass all the way up it does not go into protect, but that does not prove anything does it? Thanks for any further help AC

I'd say the problem is definetely with the amp or subs. If it were the amp, it would be near impossible to diagnose. Check the resistance of the sub wire and box, preferably, take this measurement at the amp terminals with one lead, say -, disconnected.
If it were the subs, try temporarily wiring all the vc in series and see if the amp shuts off. This will give the amp an easy load to handle if it's having problems in the output stage.
If it's the amp, only replacing the amp and trying again will tell you that.
TROUBLESHOOT! Replace or change one thing at a time.
I'd honestly say it's probably in the subs wiring. Has your amp been shutting off more and more as time goes on?
Damn, we reply too quick, wanna continue over e-mail? I honestly check the forum more often. alainprice@hotmail.com
