Boy - Tons of changes in IdBL and DbDrag - really makes me think about why I make a box - to make great sound.

What frequency does eveybody tune to for great sounding music and still have good SPL?

make an adjustable port, so that you can have it tuned low for everyday driving, and tune higher for the comps

--------------------
current system:
pioneer premier 930
eclipse 8052 component set
powered by us acoustics 2150
15 inch eclipse titanium
powered by a rockford BD 1500.1
all lightning audio wire and a batcap 400

hittin 142.7 @ 40 hz on the new mics

usually people for street beatin tune to around 30-35hz which also works out quite well for most street comp style cars.

you could make an adjustable port like mentioned above, or make 2 ports and block one off for daily driving.

just make rectangular ports and stick a chunk of wood equal to the length of the port in there to adjust.

"Conclusive" aka Chad Hines had some in his CRRX last season. He was running 2 TREO's in a wall. Monster port...he built a piece of wood with PVC pipes on it and scrweed it over the mouth of the port. Worked VERY well in his car.

His email is Hines156@aol.com. He's a sherriff and works odd hours, so be patient with him...hehehe

I am designing a Bob Gately box though.

When the ports are bigger (without stoppers)is it higher or lower in frequency?

Bob, you still around here reading?

OK - I figured out the answer to my last question - but now - How little port area can you run with and not hurt the subs - I have two shocker extreme 12s (will also ask on SAF).

My SPL port will have 47.2sq but to get to 35Hz I will only have 27sq of port if I keep the same length (and just narrow the port to get SQ results). I think there is a ratio I need to keep (1 to 9 width to height), is that correct?
